To many, shopping is a kind of therapy. A therapeutic stress reliever. Well, ladies and gentleman, your sartorial therapy begins on the corner of a large brick building on Holly Street. At none other than a boutique named Therapy.
Outside, tall windows frame their ethereal clothing displays, which are always cool and always comfortably chic. It’s a bit mystical, Therapy’s beauty. And I can’t help but feel that effortless style would befall on me–just by walking inside.
So I do. Eagerly.
I’m not disappointed. The minimalistic chicness of it all sets the mood. White washed walls. Concrete floors. Warm, soft lighting. I love the airiness of this store. The simplicity of how clothing is displayed — folded on natural wooden shelves and tables; hung organized by color and style on matching hangers. Jewelry sits in a beautiful glass-top counter, where each piece is delicate, beautiful, and absolutely on trend. Bags and scarves also decorate the store. And menswear–a rarity found in boutiques I feel–is similarly displayed.
Owners Pattie Behrens and Courtnay Page, who opened their first store in Oregon, opened Therapy in 2001 after missing California’s weather. And boy, did they get it right. From Citizens of Humanity, AG Jeans, and Rag & Bone to Joie, Dolce Vita, and Theory, Therapy provides its shoppers with numerous designers dedicated to quality and breezy style. Like many high-end boutiques, prices run high. But in exchange you’re receiving quality pieces. T-shirts, while priced nearing triple digits, feel as soft as cashmere. Jeans, in the hundred dollar range, stretch with such ease you’ll never want to take them off. Ultimately, the prices are worth the quality. You’ll be living in these pieces for years.
Therapy’s desire is to appeal to both men and women who appreciate quality, style and design. I think (firmly, absolutely believe, actually,) they got it right.
