Pasadena Spring Trends of 2016.

Spring is coming. Yes, it’s felt like spring—or rather summer—here in Pasadena already. But let’s focus on fashion trends instead of weather right now. And that means, in just a few weeks, new trends will arrive in stores everywhere. So, what can we expect?

According to fashion gurus Elle and Harpers Bazaar, spring lines will include: suede; ruffles; puffy sleeves; lace; florals; flats; pleats; marled knits; fringe; lightweight denim; orange; pink; and plaid.

Insert thumbs up emoji here. Because I’m digging all of the above.

My favorite trends, though? Definitely florals, pleats, and marled knits. I could live in a varying combination of these three items all spring long. Materials are still cozy (I typically run cold) but patterns are fresh and lovely. The hues for spring too are just as airy. Pantone describes its new palette as colors that “transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves.” This includes rose quartz, peach echo, serenity (cousin to periwinkle), snorkel blue (a warmer indigo), buttercup, limpet shell (a softer robin’s egg blue), lilic gray, fiesta, iced coffee, and green flash. Yum-o.

And don’t think I’ve forgotten about the guys. Spring has some interesting shapes and colors specifically for men. Like? The bomber jacket; shorter shorts; white chinos and trousers; and? Get this. Overalls. Accessories include baseball caps (I’m hearing a collective “Huzzah!”), bandana neckerchiefs, and slip on shoes (according to www.thetrendspotter.net).

Whatever you choose to add to your spring wardrobe, you can find one (or all) of these trends right here in Old Pasadena. I’m drooling over J.Crew’s Gemma glitter flats (golden pixie-like shoes), Anthropologie’s Nila t-shirt dress (cotton jersey in indigo), and Kate Spade’s mini rose pleated shirtdress. Ahhh, spring. Welcome to the neighborhood.
