J.Crew and New Balance mix up a perfectly sporty concoction

Things at J.Crew just got a little sportier. Recently, the classy retail line partnered with New Balance to create fashionable active wear. Yes, the two have worked together on shoes since 2005; however, this marks J.Crew’s first ever athletic line. And, according to New Balance’s vice president of apparel, the collection is “an aesthetic of timeless athletic chic.” For those of us who fan hard over J.Crew—this is music to our ears.

The line includes shoes, pants, shorts, sports bras, tanks, tops, jackets, and pullovers. All in fun, bold colors and patterns. With a streamline and classy take. Perfectly J.Crew. Am I right? There are polka dots (#yas); stripes (#typical); color blocking (#boom). And whether you’re drawn to the bolder colors like orange, cobalt, and yellow or the softer ones, navies and grays, there’s something here for everyone. For every budget. Items, after all, run from $15-200.

Currently, the items are being sold online (on both brand’s sites) and in select stores, while a men’s line is in production for spring 2017.

My favorites?

No question, my first pick is their polka dot cooling shirt. “This body-skimming tee is made in extra-breathable NB Ice fabric, which helps you stay cool mid-run (or just on a hot day’s walk to the corner store). Added bonus: You can also thread your earbuds through it.”

Next is their seamless hoodie. Stretchy and comfy, the pullover comes in an assortment of yummy colors, my favorite being mauve (which looks more like a dusty pink).

And finally, the capri leggings in navy stripe. Classic. Sporty. Perfect. (I have a feeling I’d wear these well after my workout. Especially with “flattering contoured seams and moisture-wicking NB Dry Fabric that absorbs sweat.”)

So whether you’re a fan of New Balance or J.Crew, be sure to check out the partnership of these two amazing brands. (And guess what? Old Pasadena’s J.Crew, right here on Colorado Blvd, is one of those lucky stores selling these items. Come. On. Down. Today.)
