Enjoy two classical music events in Pasadena.

It is not often that one can associate a Monday and a Tuesday with fun and fine music, but it will be the case this April 13 and 14 in our city, as there are two lovely classical music concerts scheduled.

April 13 – MUSE/IQUE’s INFINITE/QUATTRO at Jacob Maarse Florists
Pasadena’s “non-profit counter-conventional” orchestra teams up with QUATTRO, an ensemble that blends Latin, Pop, Jazz and Classical, to present INFINITE/QUATTRO, a concert based on QUATTRO’s debut album entitled “Popzzical” and of music composed by the likes of Astor Piazolla and Pharrell Williams.

The event’s “improvised concert hall” will be Jacob Maarse Florists, located at 655 E. Green Street. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for wine, mingling and exclusive floral shopping. Music will start at 7:30 p.m. and will last 70 minutes.

MUSE/IQUE’s concerts are on the relaxed side. Every event feels different because the location adds on to the ambiance. Director Rachael Worby fuses classical music with other genres, making the concert accessible to those less familiar with classical.

Tickets are $50 available at http://www.muse-ique.org. You can also check out QUATTRO at http://www.quattrosound.com

April 14 – Camerata Pacifica in the Gold Room of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium
Camerata Pacifica is a chamber music orchestra. Principal Pianist Warren Jones will be joined by violinist Priya Mitchell and French hornist Martin Owen for a concert in the Gold Room of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium at 8 p.m. They will be performing MacMillan’s “Kiss on Wood,” Brahms “Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major – Op. 100” and “Horn Trio in E-Flat Major – Op.40,” and Wagner/Liszt’s “Liebestod.”

Camerata Pacifica’s audience is knowledgeable and respectful of the music. You can hear a pin drop inside the Gold Room, which is lovely and has great acoustics. If you want to appreciate a great performance of classical music and have the opportunity to admire the craft of the musicians up close, this is your bet.

Tickets are $45 general with a $3 facility fee available at http://www.cameratapacifica.org. There will be student rush tickets at $10 (plus facility fee) at the door 30 minutes prior to the concert with valid student ID. The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located at 300 E. Green Street.
