This year was all about comfort. I had some pretty daunting new year’s resolutions to conquer, which included working from home and heading to the gym. I also allowed 2018 to be a year of grief, after losing my dad in 2017. Comfort seemed fitting, so I bought all the cozy sweatshirts, leggings, and sneakers I could find.
But as I approach 2019, I feel ready to make new resolutions that might take me out of my comfort zone. Which means? I’m making three style choices that will give my wardrobe a fresh update.
First style choice: heels. No, I’m not talking about four-inch stilettos. But I am talking about block and kitten heels. My go-tos in 2018 were sneakers and flats, which I will never replace. However, to up my wardrobe for 2019, I’m adding in some low heels. Comfort remains but with an added dressy twist.
- Love these leopard kitten heels by Sam Edelman.
- These low block heels will instantly dress up your favorite oversized sweatshirt and jeans.
Second style choice: details. I’m looking for those subtle details that amp up tees and blouses and sweaters and make cozy items a bit more chic. Like scallop detailing along necklines; jewel details on sweaters; and luxe materials on scarves and accessories. It’s the details that take an outfit from simple to chic and I intend on adding as many to my wardrobe this year as possible.
Third style choice: beauty. This means freshening up my makeup, haircare and skincare routine. A bold lipstick, a creme highlighter, salon brand shampoo, a facial, esthetician appointment—whatever it is, I’m hoping to invest a bit more time in what I put on my body. After all, a fresh face, glowing skin, and shiny hair are three of your best accessories!
