I may be late to the leopard trend, but I am noless enthusiastic! The classic print has been everywhere this fall / winterseason and wearing it during the holidays feels like a bit of sassy fun.
Its popularity began back in the 1920s when its inspiration came from the glamour of movie stars. Over the decades, leopard print shifted from classy (think leopard fur coat) to trashy (think Peg Bundy) and ultimately landed where we are today—as a strong yet feminine statement. Regardless of your inspiration (whether that’s punk rocker or glamour gal), there’s a way to wear leopard that’s right for you.
For me, a touch of the print goes a long way. So I’ve rounded up five items that are subtle nods to this popular trend. Ready? Let’s get shopping!
First up is this leopard faux fur stole—in J.Crew’s own words, it makes everything “look a gazillion times chicer.” How can you argue with that? I bought this one and am giddy to wear it with a black dress and heels or a slouchy grey sweater and jeans.
Second are these gorgeous leopard print mules from Madewell. I love a casual way to wear leopard—somehow it feels a bit more organic, a bit less expected. Pairing these with velvet joggers and a cozy sweater would be a perfect date night ensemble.
Third. Sometimes all you need is a pop of a print, am I right? This leopard print belt will do just that. Love wrapping a belt around a chunky cardigan for a chic but cozy look.
Fourth is this subtle but glamorous beaded leopard foldover clutch. Not too obvious but just as smashing as a bold leopard print, this clutch is the perfect addition to any holiday outfit.
And finally fifth—this one is the least subtle. This one isn’t so much a nod but rather a “here I am”; so if you’re feeling bold, this statement leopard top is for you. Adore it with trousers and heels or black joggers and sneakers for a more casual but still festive look.
