I love reworking my closet. To take an item that I’ve worn in the past and find a new way to wear it. It’s a challenge. A puzzle. While there’s nothing wrong with repeating outfits (if it works, it works!), there’s something fashionably satisfying about creating new ones with old pieces.
Today, I’m taking a classic staple we all have in our closet—black pants—and reworking them three different ways for the long Thanksgiving weekend. Although my holidays are always casual—jeans, joggers and sneakers are all acceptable—I like to dress up a bit for the meal and keep it casual for shopping the next day.
Here’s how I plan to wear my black pants three different ways:
- Thanksgiving dinner—like I said, I like dressing up a bit, even though it’s not expected. For dinner, I’ll most likely wear kitten heels and a front-tucked blouse with my black pants. This keeps things not too dressy, not too casual, but still extremely comfortable. Add a sparkly earring or sleek necklace and I’m ready for a night of family, food, and fun.
- Evening movie—tradition in my family is watching a movie on Thanksgiving night (Fantastic Beasts, anyone?). My feet always seem to get cold in theaters, so I’ll swap out the heels for sneakers and the blouse with a sweatshirt. If it’s colder than normal, I’ll add a beanie too.
- Weekend shopping—since shopping includes wandering the streets of Old Pasadena, I’ll need to bundle up (a bit). I’m talking a light coat, a pair of sleek flats and, a graphic tee knotted in the front. Not only will I stay warm, but it’ll also keep things fun for a full day of shopping.
