A new Southern French restaurant opened in Pasadena called Entre Nous. It’s a branching off of sorts, as two former partners sold their shares in Eagle Rock’s Cafe Beaujolais to make their mark just a few miles away in the former Ración.
Owners Mathias Wakrat and Jean-Christophe Febbrari hail from the French Riviera, and hope to serve traditional French fare like rack of lamb, duck confit, and Marseille specialty, bouillabaisse. The interior can seat 50, and three to four tables fill a side patio. Instead of mirroring the fully French wine list at Cafe Beaujolais, Wakrat and Febbrari took their two decades away from France for a more international wine experience. They’ll feature ones from across the globe, including California, New Zealand, and a rose from Wakrat’s hometown, Saint-Tropez.
Wakrat and Febbrari took over Cafe Beaujolais in 2004. The two recently sold their ownership stake and took over Ración, or the short-lived Dérive, only two months ago.
“We have a genuine way of hosting people,” says Febbrari. “We come from small villages and want people to sit down and feel comfortable. We had an opportunity to be here in Old Pasadena, so we wanted to open the only French restaurant there and just be us.”
