One of the latest trends in the food world is delivery service. People all over the country are looking to stay home and eat their favorite restaurant foods. Or try new ones—but without having to adhere to the classic “no shoes, no shirt, no service” rule. The June opening of Kitchen United means that Pasadena now has six new delivery restaurants to look forward to, all in one space.
Kitchen United is a “food hub” that opened up around town to help food entrepreneurs realize their vision as well as feed the hungry gourmets of Pasadena. More locations are planned in the future and more restaurants may open up as well, but for now, Kitchen Hub features six restaurants. Eventually Kitchen United will offer its own order and delivery service, but for now you can order through existing delivery apps to chow down at home. You can also swing by and pick up food from the businesses themselves, but the space is designed for cooking, not dining so you may just want to order online. Although if you are in the area, you can check out busy cooks turning out meals for locals. And if you’re a food creator, then you may want to check out renting a kitchen yourself.
So far, there are six restaurants in Kitchen United, including Canter’s Deli—an LA landmark that locals previously had to cross town over to Fairfax to enjoy. Canter’s has been a favorite pastrami palace since opening in 1931, thanks to 24 hour service and being featured in numerous films and television shows. But even though the hours are convenient, the location was not. Jewish delis are seeing a resurgence in popularity with modern versions opening in places like Silverlake and downtown LA but so far none have appeared in Pasadena. The new location means that when you really need a bowl of matzo bowl soup, it’s just a delivery away. The Kitchen United menu is abbreviated but offers all the classic deli dishes you desire, including Reubens.
Kitchen United has some other favorites and new and even yet-to-come spots as well, check out the website for menus and hours.
