With the Summer Solstice officially here, summer has arrived around town Pasadena, bringing with it many events where you can find some good eats. If you hate trekking all over the state to enjoy the best festivals, you’ll be happy to know that many are taking place right in your own backyard. Check out some of the biggest:
The second annual Arroyo Seco Festival is coming to town this weekend, (June 23 & 24) and promises to be at least as big as before. While music fans are heading to the Rose Bowl for performances by Robert Plant, Kings of Leon, The Pretenders, Alanis Morissette, Jack White, Neil Young, and Seu Jorge, foodies should be sure to check it out for the many L.A.-area chefs and restaurants that will be there, ranging from up and comer’s to established spots like Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak.
If raging music festivals aren’t your thing, then check out the annual fireworks event at the Rose Bowl. Americafest is one of the biggest Fourth of July celebrations in the county, if not the state. Grab a bite at a classic fourth of July eatery or bring something in to celebrate the fourth, from barbecue to burgers, and then enjoy the show from your own backyard.
For one of Pasadena’s largest neighborhood events, head to the annual Colorado Street Bridge Party. On July 14, the city’s iconic bridge is closed off to traffic to make way for three stages, a dance floor, an adjacent vintage car show, and activities for the kids. For over 100 years, the bridge has connected Pasadena to the city of Los Angeles. Despite a few hiccups over the years, the bridge has remained as a favorite way to get into Pasadena and has become a favorite for filmmakers (LaLa Land comes to mind). The Bridge Party is presented by Pasadena Heritage and includes a variety of food offerings from local eateries and vendors including Mijares Mexican Restaurant, Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ, DogHaus, Pam’s Sweet Shack and Funnel Cakes, and beers from Craftsman Brewing and Eagle Rock Brewery. And of course wine, cocktails and more treats. Tickets are discounted if purchased in advance and available here.
