Summer is nearly here and that means that there is a whole lot going on in Pasadena’s food community. Take a look at some of the places that you can start chowing down:
Maestro, the upscale Mexican restaurant that has made quite a splash in town has been doing monthly pop-ups. LA Beer Week Kickoff at Stone starts this weekend. Stone Brewery first came to down back in 2012 and to commemorate the occasion you’ll find brews from that year, so grab a growler and head to the Old Town store location for a taste or two. Stop by again for new releases and check in throughout the week for the latest happenings.
The Wicked Claw’s Pop-Up at Der Wolfskopf began in May and is going strong throughout the summer. Stop in to the biergarten on Sundays for lobster rolls, burgers and tasty sides. Presented by the brothers behind the Union Restaurant company, the event is family friendly so you don’t have to worry about finding a baby-sitter.
Good to Know:
Twohey’s, the longtime Alhambra diner was due to close back in February but has remained in a kind of limbo since the opening of sister restaurant, Twohey’s Tavern in South Pasadena. It now seems that the elder Twohey’s will remain open thru June. Check out the Twohey’s Facebook page for ongoing updates…
Eater recently ranked the Linguine with Carlsbad Clams at The Arbour as amongst the best clam pastas in Los Angeles. The secret is the experience of former Drago Centro chef Ian Gresik and wife Nancy as well as the carefully curated ingredients, including environmentally friendly raised clams.
Fox’s, the longtime Altadena diner over on Lake that has been around for over 60 years, recently underwent a months-long renovation, courtesy of new owners. The new owners also own Cindy’s, a diner in Eagle Rock that the couple refurnished and updated to great success a few years back. With the renovation complete, Fox’s is now reopen with daily hours from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can see the new upgrades and details over at https://www.instagram.com/foxsaltadena/.
