Bone Kettle, the Southeast Asian bone broth kitchen also featuring small Indonesian style plates has expanded its hours, which is good news for people seeking a new lunch spot or a new Happy Hour hangout. Another new option that has moved into town is Motto Tea Café, a Japanese tea house also serving creatively topped pancakes.
Bone Kettle opened last year to rave reviews and has recently expanded its hours and offerings to include Happy Hour and lunch options. When first opened, Bone Kettle was BYOB but there is now a selection of beer, wine, and sake with $7 Happy Hours on all drinks from 5pm-6pm daily. The other exciting news is the introduction of a lunch menu that includes a selection of appetizers, protein-packed salads, rice plates, and of course bone broth and noodles.
Motto Tea Café is a new kid in town. Located on the corner of Green Street and DeLacey, Motto Tea Café features various hot and cold tea drinks as well as fruity and refreshing offerings in both traditional and trendy flavors. All ingredients are fresh and natural and many are sourced directly from Japan. You’ll find organic milk in place of creamer and cream cheese in place of powdered options. To pair with your beverage selection, you will also find a variety of less than usual pancakes including sea salt, blueberry, boba, and matcha toppings. There are also lunch specials featuring your choice of sandwich, salad, and beverage. The order at the counter style shop is sweet and modern and also offers space to sit and enjoy your tea or sandwich or you can take it to go. And everything is perfect for taking photos for your social media—from the pretty shades of the restaurant to the cup lids.
If you spend time at local parking meters or plan to start, when you grab lunch at Bone Kettle or Motto Tea Café, checkout Passport. Passport is an app that lets you pay for parking with your Smartphone and you can add time without having to drop what you’re doing and rush out the meter—in Old Pasadena and elsewhere around town.
