Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO)’s virtuosic musicians will serve as musical tour guides for In Focus, the Orchestra’s newest chamber music series, curated by Concertmaster Margaret Batjer. In Focus will be performed Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at the Rothenberg Hall of The Huntington Library in San Marino. This location is new for LACO, an impressive venue that features Calder tapestries inside the 400-seat auditorium.
In Focus will provide insights into some great chamber music repertoire in an intimate setting. This first event is launching with Brahms’ Horn Trio and String Sextet in B-flat major, and Mozart’s D Major Flute Quartet. Featured LACO artists besides Batjer are: Violin: Jacqueline Brand, Associate Principal Viola: Victoria Miskolczy, Viola: Robert Brophy, Principal Cello: Andrew Shulman, Cello: Trevor Handy, Principal Flute: Joachim Becerra Thomsen, Principal Horn: Michael Thornton and guest pianist Bernadene Blaha.
Tickets for this event start at $49 and are available online at laco.org, or by calling (213) 622-7001. Single tickets can also be purchased at the venue box office on the night of the concert, pending on availability. There are also discounted ticket prices for groups of 12 or more. College students with valid student ID may purchase tickets for $8, subject to availability. The Rothenberg Hall of The Huntington Library is located at 1151 Oxford Road in San Marino, 91108.
This concert was also presented at the Moss Theater in Santa Monica on Feb. 15, to the delight of the audience. In Focus celebrates the 50th anniversary of LACO, which is ranked among the world’s top musical ensembles and is regarded as a preeminent interpreter of historical masterworks as well as a champion of contemporary composers.
