Have you noticed? I’m slowly going through this season’s latest fall trends. First, it was velvet. Last week, it was plaid. Today’s post? The power suit. Now, to me, the power suit is an 80s flashback; nothing but shoulder pads, wide ties, and pinstripes. But like most styles that come back around, there’s always a twist. And this season’s twist on the power suit is a nod to menswear scattered all throughout the women’s department.
According to glamour.com, “…deconstructed blazers, perfectly tailored trousers, and plenty of gray stripes…will make you reconsider the business-friendly suit for after-hours this autumn.” I say, huzzah! How about you?
What I love about a suit, even if you never wear it to work, is the mixing and matching. Three pieces—say a blazer, vest, and pants—can be worn numerous ways with a variety of items already in your closet. Pair a boxy menswear-inspired blazer with jeans and booties. A pair of plaid patterned suit pants with a denim jacket and tee. Or layer a double-breasted vest over a velvet dress with sneaks. Whatever you pick, be sure to add at least a piece (or two) of menswear-inspired styles to your closet this fall!
Shop some of my favorite menswear-inspired trends below:
- Love Zara’s oversized, boxy take on the blazer, a subtle take on this season’s trend. Or try this bolder checked blazer if you’re wanting to make more of a statement.
- Target’s take on slim fit grey plaid suiting pants are fabulous (and inexpensive, at $27.99)—pair them with sneakers and a graphic tee for a more casual look.
- “This flirty above-the-knee skirt features a ruffly hem and a mens-y pattern, and pairs perfectly with your favorite pair of ankle boots or flats” (jcrew.com). Um. All. The. Yes.
- Nothing says laid back more than your boyfriend’s collard shirt. But what if it was made to fit you? J.Crew’s boyfriend button-up shirt takes the power suit to a much more casual level. Perfectly paired with jeans and loafers and you’re ready for drinks with the girls.
Plumbid – a new and innovative way to market and sell your home!
Thanks for reading about Menswear for women! At first, we thought Robin was going to tell us men what to wear this fall, but we think its better this way? How would you like a way to get 12% or more over asking price for your home? We recently sold a private view home for that amount over the list price because of the Plumbid bidding process. And buyers were solid — fully qualified and informed about the property before they could bid. Check here, or call or text the deFazios for more information at 626-825-9955.
