Dog Haus has been opening up shops all over town, Southern California and across the nation and now it’s opened up in the Rose Bowl, marking a first in the stadium’s 95-year old history.
The Rose Bowl is a renewed hot spot hosting not only games and flea markets but major concerts and events like the recent Arroyo music festival.
The occasion marks a possible first for the Rose Bowl as a stadium with an outside vendor.
“The Rose Bowl Stadium is thrilled to partner with such a well-known and respected Pasadena store. We think this relationship will truly strengthen our food and beverage offerings at America’s Stadium and will bring another variety for our patrons at games and concerts. Welcome to the family, Dog Haus, we’re happy to have you here,” said Darryl Dunn, Rose Bowl stadium general manager.
Dog Haus has a creative take on hot dogs and sausages with basic and gourmet options served on Hawaiian rolls rather than traditional buns. Like other Dog Haus locations that feature special items depending on the surrounding area, the Rose Bowl stand will feature unique items including the Oktoberwürst, a one-third pound Cajun-spiced, Emmentaler cheese-stuffed Bierwürst with mustard aioli and chopped green onions; the Long Snap made with Dog Haus’ signature snap dog topped with haus chili, cheddar cheese sauce and green onions. There is also the more basic Simply Frank, a Dog Haus signature snap dog. The menu also has the option of plain tots or Nice Tots, with cheddar cheese sauce and chopped bacon, and green onions. And a rotating craft beer selection for concerts.
André Vener, Dog Haus partner, is a fourth generation Pasadenan that grew up in the shadow of the iconic Rose Bowl and is proud to have such a special place in his hometown’s stadium.
The hot dog stand opened up just in time for college football season earlier in the fall and may be the start of a new trend as Dog Haus fits into the Rose Bowl neighborhood the way Ludo’s fried chicken and the B.S. Taqueria represent Los Angeles at Staples Center.
