With August slipping by and September coming soon, transitional pieces are on my mind. Wear now, wear later. True, weather here never quite feels like fall until November. But! With the right pieces, you can transition your wardrobe from summer to autumn without too much bulk or too much money. Sounds like a win-win to me.
So, where to begin? Let’s start from the top down.
The hat. Time to swap out the straw topper for a wool one. The simple material change will make a serious fall statement without adding too much warmth. Style it with shorts and booties for now; skinny jeans and a sweater for later. Loving this Jada boater hat from Anthropologie for $68 or this camel wool floppy hat from Target for just $29.99.
Next up? The jacket. I am always on the hunt for a lightweight jacket—one I can wear with a tee today and over a sweater in the fall. The right material and the right color is what it’s all about. And I’m digging this utility jacket in camo from Banana Republic for $128 or this similar one from Forever21 for under $40. Wear now with skinny white distressed jeans and block sandals; wear later over a knit dress and tall ridding boots.
And finally, the shoes. Nothing says fall more than a good pair of boots. One of my favorite ways to transition from summer to fall is pairing booties with shorts, skirts, dresses, you name it. These perforated booties from Vince Camuto are the perfect finisher to any transitional outfit. Also loving these from Target for less than half the price!
Fall may still be several weeks away, but now’s the time to purchase a few items to wear now and later. Ready? Go.
