Warmer weather and longer days is the perfect recipe for festival season. Am I right? A quick Google search shows me just how right I am. Festivals of all sorts are happening all over the state — music festivals, wine festivals, food truck festivals, Earth Day festivals. You name it, there is one. The biggest question is: what do I wear?
Since it’s springtime and the weather can be a bit unpredictable, I’m an advocate of light layers. Along with breezy dresses, cropped tops, frayed denim, flirty skirts, perforated shoes, chunky sandals, and cozy knits. Combine any of these for a feminine, festival, spring ready style, perfect for whatever outdoor event you’ve got on your calendar.
Let’s start with breezy dresses paired with perforated booties:
Free People’s style screams festival chic. Their materials are breezy; their colors are springy; and their draping is spot on boho. Plus? Feminine details like embroidery, lace, and sequins keep things festive. I’m loving the Oh My Goodness Maxi Dress in sunflower. Ruffles, effortless layers, and lightweight fabric? Throw a denim jacket over your shoulders for some warmth and you’re ready for a day-to-evening outing. For something a bit more feminine, this Perfectly Victorian Mini in ivory should be you’re go-to. The floral embroidery and crochet trim is dainty and festival ready. Pair it with some perforated booties like these from Jeffrey Campbell. Breezy like a sandal, ready for dirt floors like a boot.
Frayed denim, cropped tops, and chunky sandals:
To me, a denim skirt is as classic as it gets. Fray the hem and you’ve got a boho chic staple. Like this one from Zara—love the distressing! All it needs is a cropped top (this ivory crochet beauty to be specific) and a pair of lace up chunky sandals (preferably these Steve Madden cognac suede ones) and you’re ready for a day at the festival of your choice.
Flirty skirts and cozy knits:
Looove Anthropologie’s details on all of it’s clothing. And this embellished mini skirt is no exception. Pair it with a cozy pull over like this Francophile sweatshirt for a quirky yet cozy festival look. And to keep things flirty and on budget, rock the look with Target’s Laser Cut Cork Wedge Gladiator Sandals. The wedge keeps things comfortable; the lace-up keeps things trendy. Win-win.
