How about flying through Scotland, Italy, and Turkey, all in one evening and without leaving town?
Principal Guest Conductor Nicholas McGegan is returning to lead the Pasadena Symphony at the Ambassador Auditorium on Saturday, March 18th, for a European tour of musical masterpieces featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony and Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style. Virtuoso violinist Rachel Barton Pine will make her debut performance with the orchestra to transport you to the exotic with Mozart’s Turkish Violin Concerto No. 5.
To learn about the music that will be performed, you are also invited to join Insights – a pre-concert dialogue with Conductor McGegan that will begin one hour prior to each performance. This conversation will be open to ticket holders at no additional cost.
Those who plan to arrive early could also enjoy a drink or a dinner in the Sierra Auto Symphony Lounge, which posh setting at the Auditorium’s outdoor plaza will offer lunch, dinner, a full bar, and music before the concert and during intermission. The Lounge will open at 12:30 p.m. before the matinee and at 6 p.m. before the evening performance.
The Ambassador Auditorium is located at 131 S. St. John Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105. The event will offer performances at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $35 and may be purchased online at pasadenasymphony-pops.org or by calling (626) 793-7172.
Note about parking: Valet parking will be available on Green Street for $15. General parking will be available in two locations: next to the Auditorium (entrance on St. John Ave) at the covered parking structure for $10, and directly across the street at the Wells Fargo parking structure (entrance on Terrace at Green St). ADA parking is located at the above-ground parking lot adjacent to the Auditorium (entrance on St. John Ave.) for $10. Please not that parking purchased onsite is cash only.
