Sometimes when you’ve got kids, dinner and dancing for Valentine’s Day is out of the question. But there’ s no reason to ignore the date altogether when the Pasadena libraries have so many events lined up for the entire family. So make sure to let love shine in the upcoming weeks. We surely can use all the love we can muster!
Thursday, Feb. 2, 7 p.m. – Valentine’s Movie Date at the Pasadena Central Library
The film 50 First Dates will be screened for adults while the Pasadena Central Library staff provides entertainment, activities, and refreshment for school-age children in the Library’s Children’s Story Room. Participating kids must be 8 years and older. Reservations are required because space is limited to 50 parents/guardians. Send the name of the parents/guardians and the name and age of the kids to firstname.lastname@example.org. The event is free of charge.
Tuesday, Feb. 7, 3:30 p.m. – Valentine’s Day Jewelry Workshop
If you want to create something unique for a loved one, take this workshop at Villa Parke (363 East Villa St). The workshop is free but you need to sign up by calling (626) 744-6510. The event is open to teens and adults only.
Thursday, Feb. 8, 10:30 a.m. – Heart Necklaces for your Valentine workshop
This is another free workshop, this time presented by local artist Janell Mithani, where you and your young ones can create a heart necklace for someone you love. The workshop will be led at the Hill Avenue Branch (55 S. Hill Ave).
Thursday, Feb. 8, 3 p.m. – Valentine’s Craft Day
The Hastings Branch Library (3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd.) is holding a free workshop where you and your kids can create a great craft for a loved one.
Tuesday, Feb. 14, 3 p.m. – Valentine’s Day Party
This is an opportunity – for teens only – to create all things Valentine at the Allendale Branch Library (1130 S. Marengo Ave). The workshop is free of charge.
Tuesday, Feb. 14, 4 p.m. – Anti-Valentine Day Party
Know a teen who finds Valentine’s Day silly? If he or she is 12 years and older go to the Hastings Branch (3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd) to UNcelebrate the date with everything anti-Valentine. This event is free of charge. It may be labeled “anti love,” but in truth it’s totally adorable.
