With the news of the election out of the way, it’s time to start thinking about what really matters: food. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and if you’re not up for cooking your own bird this year, there are plenty of places around town Pasadena that can help you out. Choose from the increasing number of family friendly chains and steakhouses that have opened around town, which ensure that your visiting family’s kids will have something to enjoy. Or try a locally owned restaurant to help support local businesses with the tradition of staying open on holidays.
Tried and True Local Favorites
Each year, The Langham puts on a festive holiday, including Thanksgiving meals in all its restaurants. Head over to the historic hotel for a Thanksgiving brunch in The Ballroom or a dim sum brunch in The Terrace. You can also choose between three-course meals at The Terrace or The Royce with different menus and different pricing.
For any holiday, Maison Akira is always a good bet for an elegant meal. Make a reservation soon because this local tradition likely fills up. Maison Akira offers a special Thanksgiving menu only and select seating times.
Patina Group recently opened Maple in the nearby Descanso Gardens, and they are offering both a brunch and “twilight” dinner option during limited hours.
The Chain Gang
Flemings opened up this fall, just in time for the holidays. Make a reservation to enjoy both an adult menu and a separate option for the little ones. The adult version is $40 and includes an amuse-bouche for the table followed by salad and a turkey dinner main course with all the fixings followed by a choice of pumpkin cheesecake or carrot cake for dessert. For half the price of the grown up version, the kids’ menu includes a kid-friendlier version of the adult menu, along with a beverage.
Ruth’s Chris has a tradition of opening early for Thanksgiving, so that you can squeeze in multiple family and friend events or just get the get together out of the way. $40 for adults and $13 for kids gets a three-course turkey menu. You can also just make a turkey and pick up the sides because the steakhouse also offers side dishes to go so that at least some of your dinner is catered and easy if you choose to dine in.
Il Fornaio and Gyu-Kaku also usually have options for Thanksgiving, if you’re feeling like bucking tradition this year.
