Just because society has deemed grown ups “too old” to enjoy trick-or-treating doesn’t mean that adults can’t get a sweet taste of Halloween treats. I don’t mean raiding your kid’s candy stash after they’ve passed out from a sugar high and you don’t even have to wait until Halloween night to enjoy your treat. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the sweet flavors of Halloween all over town—before the ghouls and goblins come out to play.
Over at Amara Chocolates, you don’t have to be a fan of the dark stuff to get your sweet tooth on. They have all kinds of flavorful goodies, including pumpkin cheesecake churros, which is a delicious way to enjoy pumpkin without having to carve your own or hit up a Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte. It’s no wonder they won the recent Best of Pasadena reader’s poll.
At Lette Macrons, try a pumpkin macaron because while pumpkin spiced coffees can get tiresome, trying new foods flavored with pumpkins doesn’t.
Check out the soufflé calendar at POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant. Always excellent at celebrating any holiday throughout the year, the soufflés during the last part of October have a decided candy theme, whether you prefer your peanut butter Reese’s or Butterfingers style.
If you need further convincing that Halloween isn’t just for kids, then check out some of the decidedly adult beverages that appear around town Pasadena during this time of year:
Chug down some cider at T Boyles Tavern or Congregation Ale House for a refreshing change from a beer to go with your happy hour special. You can also find more cider at Lucky Baldwin’s and King’s Row Gastropub (which also has chocolate and peanut butter stouts, in case your sweet tooth is in need of a grown up kick).
Speaking of beer, you’re likely to see some pumpkin beer popping up on menus at spots like Slaters 50/50 and The Yard House, chains which tend to have extra large selections of seasonal brews and even craft cocktails that feature spices and seasonal ingredients.
And of course, there’s always the option of taking your kids trick or treating in Old Pasadena.
