Halloween is just two weeks away. (Can the end of October already be upon us?) So, it’s time to solidify your costume. Or—if you’re like me—a more casual approach to Halloween. When I worked in an office, I wasn’t keen on donning an entire costume. The fear of being the only one wearing something would always hit me as I left the house. Which is why I ended up finding items to wear that were whimsical and fun—that didn’t require painting my face or rocking a wig.
If you adore dressing up—good for you! Wear. That. Costume. But, if you’re like me, and fair more on the introvert end of costuming, then I’ve got a creative list for you to peruse. Items that’ll get you in the Halloween mood while still maintaining your everyday style. (And items you can purchase and wear again even after the pumpkins and brooms are gone.)
Kate Spade. Yes, I know. I’m almost a broken record when it comes to this store. But you have to see some of their current items, perfect for a subtle Halloween. Like? These bunny flats. The grey shoes come with a white fluffy tale, metallic whiskers, and pink ears. Slip these on with a white lacy blouse and you’ll be the sweetest (and chicest) rabbit around.
I adore Target and all the clothes. Especially this animal print boyfriend sweater. It’s the perfect way to come as a cat without painting whiskers on your face. Throw it on with sleek black skinnies and a pair of cat ears (Arianna Grande style), and you’ve got a costume perfect for the office and brunch that weekend.
For the dudes out there not interested in full body costumes, Urban Outfitters has got you covered with its Ghostbusters tee. You won’t be afraid of looking out of place with this shirt, jeans, and a military jacket.
This sequin black boatneck sweater from Zara is the perfect way to channel your inner witch (without the warts or scraggly tooth). It’s delicate; sparkly; and will keep you warm on a chilly Halloween night.
So whether you’re looking forward to roaming the town in Halloween garb or subtly celebrating with a few fun pieces, get creative and enjoy!
