Your next special night out in Pasadena should involve dinner at Fleming’s, which just opened on the corner of Colorado Blvd. and Marengo Ave. The venue is gorgeous to the eye and the food and wine options a delight to the rest of your senses.
I’m speaking from experience as over the weekend I had a chance to enjoy one of Fleming’s new prime steaks – the Dry-Aged Prime Ribeye – cooked and seasoned to perfection and put over the top with side dishes like Fleming’s potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. Then I was introduced to Fleming’s 100, the award-winning program that offers a curated list of 100 wines available by the glass or bottle, each intended to complement your dish while satisfying your individual taste.
Dinner at Fleming’s is not an experience easily forgotten. It is instead a remarkable evening that starts as you step into one of its two outdoor patios and later into the spacious oval-shaped bar with champagne-inspired pendant lights. That bar is elegantly separated from the main dining room by a massive wine wall that is in itself a piece of art.
I had a chance to speak briefly to Operating Partner Connie Alvarez and Chef Partner Derek Reshaw, both of whom are at the helm of this Pasadena location. They both have solid and extensive backgrounds in the hospitality industry, several years working with Fleming’s, and sound really excited to introduce Pasadena to the Fleming’s complete dining experience.
Amidst delicious food, delectable wines, perfect table set-ups, ice sculptures, background music, and the excellent service, I became an enthusiastic fan of Fleming’s in Pasadena. I think you should indulge yourself in it as soon as you can. (And by saying “indulge,” I just remembered the scrumptious walnut turtle pie that sealed the meal for me. There was even enough of that to bring home!)
