It’s that time of year again — when school resumes. Yes, the weather’s still beastly hot and the pool’s still calling your name. But when the bell rings, it’s into the classroom you go.
The one thing that would get me excited about a new school year? A new wardrobe. Shopping for school clothes always cheered me up, and I can only imagine, if I were a teacher, it would do the same for my spirit as it did as a kid.
For you teachers out there, stocking up on classroom appropriate and comfortable clothing is a must. But who says it can’t also be stylish?
Shop my teacher friendly (and fun) favorites below:
- Kicks — thankfully, the stylish sneaker trend is heading into fall. Which means your feet can stay relaxed while appearing trendy. My favorites?
I adore these New Balance sneakers from J.Crew — with a touch of gold on the shoes, you’re ready for anything.
These Huxley sneakers from Joie are sleek and chic and will seriously pair with just about anything—from a skinny trouser to a fit and flare dress.
For a little added texture and pattern, these Steve Madden Hamerick sneaks come in white snake. It’s as cool as it gets.
- Blazers — one of the chicest and most practical items I think any teacher can own is a blazer. It instantly dresses up jeans (if you’re allowed to wear ‘em); adds a collegiate flare to a flouncy skirt; and can be paired over a silk cami or nubby sweater, depending on the weather.
J.Crew, no surprise, is my go-to for investing in a blazer. Yes, they can run into the $200s, but, they will last you, year after year. I’ve owned both their navy and black blazers. Both I’ve worn to death. Both I’ve worn with everything. This year? I’m loving their baroque blue Regent Blazer—a bright color for those dreary days in class.
A more affordable but no less chic blazer is Old Navy’s Heavyknit Ponte Blazer in camel. Love the classic lines and price tag (under $40!).
- Pants — if jeans are a no-no at your school, don’t fret—there are so many fun options that are just as versatile, comfortable, and chic.
The Ryan pant from Banana Republic are slim and flattering and go with tees, jackets, sweaters, and everything-else-you’d-wear-with-jeans.
Love, love, love these Anthropologie wide-leg Brighton pants, especially in wine. Can we say, hello, fall?
And to help you with your new school year wardrobe, J.Crew and Anthropologie offers 15% off to teachers (and students). Don’t wait too long — Anthro’s deal ends September 12th!
