Signs that the long hot summer is coming to a close are everywhere these days. Back to School ads are popping and so are reminders about making a last ditch summer trip for Labor Day weekend. Although the heat will likely be around for a lot longer than the unofficial end of summer, take advantage of the long days to try some of the seasonal favorites that are best served during the summer.
In SoCal we take grilling for granted because we can enjoy it year round. For an alternate take on the usual grill fare, check out some of the more unique options we are fortunate enough to enjoy around town.

You don’t have to camp out to enjoy the sweetness of a s’more. You don’t even have to fire up your grill.
Over at Serendipity Cupcakes, you can enjoy a chocolate cupcake with marshmallow filling and graham cracker frosting. And about a million other cupcake flavors too.
POP Champagne Bar has an elegant cool twist on a classic s’more, involving ganache and ice cream.
Berries and stone fruit are currently brimming over the stands of local Farmer’s Markets, but transforming them into cobbler form means lighting your oven. Instead, have a local eatery do the work for you.

After a traditional summer barbecue meal at Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ, save room for a fruit cobbler, complete with ice cream.
