You are invited to the world premiere screening of the feature film America, My Love this Thursday, April 14, at the Laemmle Playhouse 7 in Pasadena. The screening will be followed by a Q & A with the filmmakers and cast.
The film, directed, written, and starring Romanian American Diana Angelson (Dracula: The Impaler, The Second Coming of Christ), revolves around the plight of a happy family living in what is now Eastern Turkey, in 1915. Joining Angelson is a cast that includes Shake Tukhmanyan (Lord of War, Sideways), veteran actor Anatol Razmeritza, Arman Nshanian (Palco & Hirsch, Leo’s Oscar) and Nazo Bravo (Armenian American, 4 Minutes), who is also an increasingly-popular Armenian rapper. Armenia, My Love also marks the feature film debut of 10-year-old Petru Georoiu.
An important player in the film is the artwork created by Romanian artist Paula Matei. Armenia, My Love was shot by Romanian cinematographer Marius Neacsu, with colorful scenes that portray a blissful life, and black and white scenes representing sadness and death.
“While Armenia My Love does expose the harsh realities faced by the entire Armenian people who were violently ripped from their homeland,” said Angelson, “it is Armenia, My Love’s strong messages of hope, love, faith, perseverance and strength that I wanted to prevail.”
Released to honor the 101-year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide which is quickly approaching, the drama begins its limited Los Angeles theatrical release in Pasadena on Thursday and in North Hollywood and Glendale the following day. Beginning on Friday April 15, people will be able to attend Armenia, My Love screenings at the Laemmle Playhouse 7 in Pasadena, as well as the Laemmle NoHo 7 (5240 Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood) and at the MGN 5 Star Cinema (128 North Maryland Avenue in Glendale).
Laemmle Playhouse 7 is located at 673 East Colorado Blvd. Following the screening and the Q & A, Thursday’s festivities will move a few blocks down to an after party at Edwin Mills (22 Mills Place).
