Since its winter (though, it’s kind of hard to tell with all this recent sunshine!), my skin can get dry. My hands, feet, knees, you name it. Which means applying copious amounts of lotion is necessary. But what also keeps my skin from cracking is a trip to the salon. Yes, I look for just about any excuse to get a manicure or pedicure. And winter dry out season is definitely one of them. So, where to go?
Pasadena’s got plenty, when it comes to nail salons. Starting with—my favorite, of course—Dashing Diva. I know I’ve waxed poetic about this nail salon in the past, but its spot on service and darling interior is reason to discuss it again. Their aim? “To deliver the highest quality, most innovative nail care products and services to the maximum amount of people around the globe in a convenient, affordable, and fun manner.” Plus—they’re clean. A special heat-sterilization method called “authoclaving” is used on all equipment; whirlpool baths are not used; and a special hospital-grade solution is constantly used on sinks and tabletops to remove all bacteria. My favorite service? Their spoiled diva pedicure ($45). To help get that winter skin ready for summer, this pedi offers exfoliation of the feet and lower legs with an organic honey scrub and a treatment wrap for calluses. The 10-minute massage too makes it worth the extra bucks!
Another nail salon in Pasadena is Olive and June. Relatively new to the neighborhood, this salon got its start in Beverly Hills and was “founded on the idea that getting a manicure and pedicure should be downright lovely.” Hard to resist, no? Inside, the space looks like a fashion bloggers’ dreams. Instagram heaven, more like it. Adorable decode; succulents everywhere; cutsey pedi baths and mani tables. Pricing resembles Dashing Diva; and their Olive manicure/pedicure would be my go-to for the winter blues. For $40 (pedi) and $30 (mani), the Olive includes exfoliation and extended massage. Or if I’m blowing my budget, the Alice, which offers exclusive detoxifying foot bath, extra callus remover, and a 15-minute massage, runs $50 for manis and $90 for pedis.
