Thanksgiving has come and gone (wait, what?), and Christmas is upon us. Somehow, waiting all year long for these Holidays seems to take forever. But once they’re here? Zoom! They’re gone. Am I right? Well, thankfully Old Pasadena is hosting a number of festivities to help stretch out this Holiday season so it doesn’t blur past us.
I love downtown Pasadena during this time of year. It’s feeling chilly-ish, decorations line the streets, including the annual snowflake lighting, and shop windows are magically lit. One of the festivities Old Pasadena is hosting is tagging your favorite festive Holiday window with #OnlyinOldPas—“you’ll be entered for a chance to win $100 each week through December 24.” Hurrah! Another Old Pasadena festivity? Ambassador Guides will be acting as Santa’s Helpers, and handing out up to $100 to random shoppers to help cover gifts this year. And with over 200 shops to browse, some extra cash could go a long way!
But along with cash giveaways (which are pretty darn sweet), Old Pasadena is hosting several pop-up-activities, photos with Santa, holiday parties, and live entertainment. Here’s just a taste of the activities you won’t want to miss!
November 28th – December 24th | Photo with Santa in Smith Alley
- Thursdays 5pm – 9pm
- Fridays 5pm – 10pm
- Saturdays 10am – 10pm
- Sundays 10am – 7pm
December 1st – December 24th | Local children and adult choir performances
December 5th | Happy Holidays Party with music from Leftover Cuties
- Saturday 6pm – 8pm
A night of swinging prohibition-era jazz music, along with a photo booth and sweet treats.
December 10th | Holiday Open House
- Thursday 5pm – 7pm
Stores and restaurants will partake in this fun holiday open house—with handbell choirs, photo booths, free gift wrapping, and a fancy tote giveaway—you won’t want to miss it! Plus, catch Santa strolling the streets of Old Pasadena.
Shops participating in this holiday fun? Anthropologie (serving up Holiday cocktails), Finn & Willow (an evening of “Cookies & Cocktails” and sneak-peaks of Holiday trends), Goorin Brothers (enjoy some spiked cider and a “swell” discount), Joie (hosting a cookie decorating contest and offering 20% off), Mohawk General Store (featuring a Holiday trunk show), and Vince (donating 10% of their evening’s sales to a local cause) are among the lengthy list.
