I love anticipating new clothing stores by checking out their online sites. And there are two great stores coming soon to Pasadena, so my browsing history has grown quite long. You’ve probably seen the signs already. One at Paseo Colorado and the other in Old Pasadena. Can’t remember? Let me refresh your memory.
First up is White House Black Market. The store is going in where LOFT went out, along Colorado Blvd., at the Paseo. Initially, I was bummed that LOFT got the boot. But when I saw what was taking its place? I must admit, it helped soften the blow. Because White House Black Market is a store full of elegant, timeless, and well priced pieces. Lines are clean, classic. Colors are muted yet sophisticated. It’s the store you go to purchase your closet staples—that perfect sheath dress ($160); the ideal car coat ($250); or the classic tie front blouse ($88). Get ready to shop your classic heart out.
The other is Kit And Ace, a family company connected with lululemon. This luxury apparel brand began when the now owners saw a dearth of comfortable and sophisticated clothing for a luxe clientele, which included themselves. So, they created it. “Their plan is to deliver innovative products that provide comfort and ease of use to the wearer, while still offering the style and quality of the luxury brands they love,” writes their website. And boy, do they deliver. The items on their website look cozy, chic, and comfy. It’s clothing you’ll want to live in. Yes, prices are well, pricey (we’re talking $200s and $300s); but when materials are soft cashmeres and wools, it’s no wonder why. Kit and Ace will fill that last spot of Barnes and Noble slots, along Colorado Blvd. No word yet on a open date; but I’ve seen plenty of activity happening, so ::crossing fingers:: SOON.
