Every year, the Pasadena Museum of History selects an individual whose civic dedication and charitable interest have affected Pasadena’s legacy to honor him or her as its Contemporary History Maker. This year, the recipient of such recognition will be former Mayor Bill Bogaard, who will be honored at a gala on September 25 at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena.
Bogaard recently completed his fourth term as Mayor of Pasadena, after taking office as the City’s first directly elected Mayor in 1999. His public service and respected leadership has spanned nearly four decades, during which he has made lasting contributions to Pasadena and provided steadfast support to multiple non-profits.
Bogaard’s “influence in Pasadena and unwavering support of nonprofits, including Pasadena Museum of History, for more than forty years, was on all of our minds when we asked if he would be our next Contemporary History Maker,” explained the Museum’s Executive Director Jeannette O’Malley. Board President John O. Baatz added: “Mayor Bogaard will add significantly to the list of more than fifty History Makers that we have honored since 2000, which includes his wife Claire, who joined the illustrious group in 2003. It is difficult to imagine anyone better fitting the description of a Contemporary History Maker: an individual whose civic passion, innovative design, or charitable interests continue to shape Pasadena’s unique and rich heritage.”
The Contemporary History Maker Gala will start at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction and follow at 7:30 p.m. with fine dining and a presentation program. It will be graced with music by the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and by classical guitarist Tim Callobre. The evening will wrap up at 10 p.m. Your best attire will be perfect for this occasion.
The Gala is open to the public with tickets starting at $400 and Patron Seats priced at $550. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Museum’s educational programs.
