Perusing beauty magazines and style blogs, I came across three spring makeup trends for this year and for once, found myself excited to try all of them. Especially since Sephora and MAC are right here in Old Pasadena. (And, for those of you interested, Sephora offers free mini makeovers. So, you know, trying one of the below trends couldn’t be more simple.)
First up? Perfect plum. Smudge this rich color across eyelids and lips for a sophisticated, day-to-night ready look. Not too heavy as black or too bold as red, plum offers a subtler way to make a dramatic statement.
One of my absolute favorite eye shadow brands is Urban Decay. Its makeup is creamy in texture and rich in color and lasts from day to evening. Don’t be alarmed by their eye shadow names, however. Half-Baked (golden bronze), Mildew (mossy green shimmer), and Smog (deep coppery brown) may be oddly named, but they pack a huge colorful punch. And in keeping with the perfect plum trend, Urban Decay offers a deep burgundy called Roach and Last Call, a soft sugar plumb. Get them all at Sephora in Old Pasadena for only $18.
Next up is the inky black eye. Time to smudge up that eyeliner for this spring trend. And MAC in Old Pasadena has several liquid eyeliners to pick from. Like their Liquidlast Liner for $20, which “combines long-lasting wear with a non-smudge, non-flake precision line.” Or their Fluidline liner for only $16. A gel formula that’s silky-smooth and goes on “foolproof” with a brush. You’ll achieve that inky black eye in no time.
And lastly, the bold red lip. I’ve always been a little shy when it comes to a bright lipstick; but lately, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and gone bold. My new favorite color and brand? Nars Audacious Lipstick in vivid orange red. It’s that perfect pop of coral, and while it runs pricey at $32, the smooth application and rich color make it well worth it. Snatch one up at Sephora in Old Pasadena today!
