I’m looking through my closet and realize once again, I own very few red and pink clothes. Which, from day to day, doesn’t mean much. But on the one day of the year, where mixing pink and red is a must, I typically find myself scrambling to put together a Valentine’s Day uniform for whatever my plans are that night. This year, it looks like we’ll be relaxing with good friends. However, there’s still something in me that wants to dress up for the occasion. After all, friends (along with hubbies) are valentines’ too! Thankfully, red and pink aren’t the only options–my favorites? Ivories, creams, and greys mixed with pinkish pops and textured luxe.
What’s on my Valentine’s dress up list? Shop the items below!
Lava Heels by Kate Spade — nothing says dress up more than high heels. I’m usually a flats girl, thanks to the gift of flat feet; but on occasions such as these, I splurge and wear my shoes high. On my list? These adorable heels from Kate Spade. No surprise, they’re $328. But! These ivory heels come with a “gold heart shaped emblem on [the] foot box,” giving these simplistic shoes a pop of Valentine’s Day wow.
There’s nothing more I love doing than mixing dressy with comfortable. Like throwing on heels with jeans and a tee. Or even better. This Lou & Grey Snowspot Dress. Fitted like a shift, this cozy piece has long sleeves, “fuzzy snow-like spots,” with banded neckline and cuffs. It’s the perfect slouchy chic outfit that paired with heels could definitely be Valentine’s Day approved. Not to mention warm! (And for under $70, yes please!)
I’m obsessing over J.Crew’s latest jewelry collection, especially the Crystal Foliage Earrings. They’re bursting with sparkles and pink. Need I say more? Pair them with anything and you’ve got instant Valentine’s Day glam. (Like the shift dress and heart heels above.) Plus, the price tag is spot on at $78. Check them out at www.jcrew.com. You’ll see that they’re worth it.
All any outfit really needs for Valentine’s Day is a pop of color on your lips. My favorites? Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in magenta plum–a bold color choice, for sure. But a fun one that adds a pop of pink to any neutral VD outfit. And Make Up For Ever lipstick in N9, which is the perfect natural rouge color for everyday. Both are under $25 and can be shopped at Sephora in Old Pasadena or www.sephora.com.
So, whatever your plans are, with whomever they’re with, snazz up your wardrobe with a little Valentine’s Day fun. A whimsical heel, a cozy shift, some blingy earrings, or a bold lip, one (or all!) will get you on your way to a pinker, more chic Valentine’s weekend.
