It’s been seemingly years since the Sizzler on Arroyo Parkway closed but the space has finally reopened as the newest Pitfire Artisan Pizza location.
Sizzler closed in early 2013 and Pitfire Pizza swooped in and scooped up the 4,500 square foot space in April 2013 for a cool $3 million. Since then a sign has hung on the door saying that Pitfire was coming soon, but it’s been hard to believe given all the time that has past. But it looks like it may have been worth the wait.
Pitfire was granted a liquor license as far back as April, but Eater reports that after all the anticipation and rumors over the past year plus, it is finally open for business, serving not only artisanal pizza pies and Italian dishes but also room for Superba Coffee and + Snacks, which may make it the only place you need to eat all day. It’s the largest Pitfire Pizza to date.
The colorful modern industrial interior is highlighted by a bright red pizza oven, which will be churning out the brand’s signature burrata pizzas, in addition to some Fall specials with seasonal toppings and an assortment of other gourmet pizzas.
Pitfire already has a faithful following, getting recognized in local publications and magazines for its tasty pies, paninis and even soft serve at some locations. The addition of having an attached celebrated coffee and snack stop (with pastries, breads and sandwiches) will likely make Pitfire even more popular.
Best of all, both Pitfire and Superba are open every day of the week, albeit for varying hours.
