As the weather continues warm, there are some tasty ways to beat the heat. Pasadena and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley are filled with boba bars, one of the tastiest ways to cool off with a sweet treat. The delightful tapioca balls are a welcome chewy accompaniment to the smoothie drinks and milk teas that they are commonly found in. This is just a small sample of the boba places you can find around town:
Noodle World (Boba World)
Boba World gets a lot of grief for the sometimes harried service, but it is still one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite or a boba in Old Town. The boba offerings are almost as extensive as the main menu, so be prepared to make some choices.
Home Brewed Bar
Home Brewed Bar isn’t a boba place per se, but the cold brewed coffee experts have also introduced a whole lot of tea offerings. And in the SGV, nothing goes better with tea than boba—especially in a place dedicated to international delights.
Flour + Tea
Flour + Tea takes hospitality seriously. Which is why the adorable shop has so many delightful pastries and sweets to go with a variety of tea types and flavors. And be sure to get an “extra” in your shaken tea. They also have a new Apple Hibiscus tea, in case you’re craving something autumnal that isn’t pumpkin spice.
Half & Half
Half & Half has numerous stores around the SGV and it’s become quite a favorite with locals as a result. The Pasadena store is on Huntington, making it a great stop after a day at the Westfield Santa Anita—although the line can sometimes reach out the door, so be prepared to wait for your refreshment. It’s well worth it.
