Yesterday I was introduced to something wonderful: Sephora’s mini mecca of nail polish. First and foremost, Sephora rocks. Not only do I love the variety of brands they offer, but I’m also impressed by their helpful staff, ready to advise on all things makeup. (I found my new favorite blush and primer, thanks to them!)
But back to polish. With fall coming (hurry, please. I’m over 100 degree weather), it’s a chance to play with new colors. And one of my favorite ways to do that is with nail polish. It’s easy; it’s cheap; but it takes your wardrobe from summer to fall in one quick (and pampering) swoop.
For some reason, I’ve never noticed Sephora’s collection of polish. Maybe it’s the laser-beam focus I have when I step into the store that keeps me from glancing around me. But when my friend showed me the display of dazzling colors, I was hooked. The colors are endless. Everything from pastels, metallics, and sparkles, to mattes, bold hues, and neutrals fill the circular display. If you’re anything like me, I tend to lean towards cheap polishes, figuring if I can save money, why not? Well, I’ve paid in chipped paint too many times to continue down this path. I’m ready to splurge a bit. Thankfully, Sephora’s polishes start at $10.50. Not too bad for something that can transform your look for a few weeks.
The big question? What colors to buy. This fall, I’m following Pantone.com’s 2014 fall color pallet. Currently, I’m leaning towards aluminum–a subtle grey that would go with everything; aurora red–festive, fun and holiday ready; cognac–a warm taupe that seems to complement a variety of skin tones; and cypress–aka military green.
So, head on over to Sephora in Old Town Pasadena. I warn you, though. You’ll probably leave with more than one bottle.
