For a quick snack or a caffeinated pick me up, Lavender & Honey, on East Washington in Pasadena, is now open for business.
Already earning praise from the LA Weekly Squid Ink column, Lavender & Honey in Northeast Pasadena is in a space formerly occupied by a children’s ceramics shop and has been completely overhauled by local couple Melanie and Charlie Porter.
Surrounded by an array of ethnic restaurants, the coffee shop looks like it will fill a need for caffeine in the area. Porter hails from La Cañada and is also sourcing the supplies for the espresso bar/deli from the nearby area. According to the LA Weekly’s Amy Scattergood, coffee beans are from Klatch Coffee in Upland, baked goods from Berolina Bakery and Pastry Shop in Glendale and Poppy Cake Baking Co. in Sierra Madre, and gluten-free items are from Rising Hearts.
In addition, there’s a selection of other items, including gourmet sandwiches variations: Italiano, Parisian, Caprese, Sriracha Roast Beef, P.L.T. or Design-your-own, as well as snackier stuff, like Pasadena toast with avocado and chiles and a selection of salads and treats for the kids like milk and cookies, PB&J, and Nutella and banana toast and even variations on hot chocolate.
Even better, the location has easy access. There’s a parking lot as well as a patio so there’s no need for feeling cramped and crowded.
The couple plans to further become a part of the community with small pop-ups in the patio area for local artisan producers. There’s a website, but so far the shop’s Facebook page is the best place to check for new info.
