Picnik is continuing to expand its corner on Colorado Boulevard. L.A. Magazine reports that the newest addition is Bar+Fish, a seafood and ceviche paradise.
Opened just last week, Chef Eduardo Ruiz has added Bar +Fish to his ever-growing roster of eateries both in and out of Picnik’s welcoming gates—he also does the food at Corazon y Miel in Bell. While Picnik focuses on sausages and meats, Bar+Fish is perfect for the pescatarian.
Like other Ruiz concepts, it sounds like Bar+Fish is anything but your typical Peruvian dish. Rather than the standard Latin-American raw fish and citrus, Ruiz combines traditional flavors with some new twists for what is said to be a constantly rotating menu of flavors. Each week a small menu of five ceviche and seafood dishes and a similar number of clever cocktails will make an appearance.
For his first week out, Ruiz featured a coconut shrimp ceviche, including heirloom tomatoes, coconut, fennel, spicy Serrano pepper cream and Kaffir lime leaves. He also had an octopus cocktail as well as a creation that used burrata and sea urchin.
Bar+Fish is already a hit with critics and is available Thursday through Saturday nights, from 5 p.m. until supplies run out.
The seafood snackery is the newest addition in the space that is seemingly constantly expanding. It already has Picnik for sausage and sandwiches, a new cocktail speakeasy, Kitchn for breakfast, and gelato to top it all off.
