With temperatures hitting record highs (90s in May? Weather, please!), it’s time to talk swimsuits. Men, women, boys, and girls, there’s a bikini or other swimsuit out there for you. No matter your body type. No matter your age. No matter your price point. Pasadena’s got some killer suits for each and every one of us. It’s just a matter of finding them. Below is a quick guide of where to find the perfect suit right here in Old Town Pasadena. The beach after all, is less than an hour away.
Of course I have to start the list with my favorite retailer — J.Crew. Located on Fair Oaks Ave., this shop has swimsuits in colors and patterns perfect for spring and summer. Bright poppy and coral stripes; sweat seersucker in pink; bold floral patterns; and more. J.Crew has something for everyone. What I love is their variety of shapes. From board shorts ($72) and rash guards ($78) to one pieces ($98 and up), halter tops ($48 and up), and bikini bottoms ($44 and up), J.Crew offers multiple options for the mix and match gal. Plus, their men’s selection is brimming with trunks, all for $75. Patterns and colors here are numerous, and include gingham, blue floral, nautical anchors, and navy stripe.
Grab your kids’ swimsuits here as well–starting at $49.50 for the girls, suits come in bright polk dots, sleek stripes, or silly prints, while boys’ trunks, starting at $42.50, come in every color and pattern under the sun.
J.Crew’s sister store Madewell, located on the opposite end of Colorado Blvd., is churning out adorable printed swimsuits left and right. I’m loving their rash guard tees–the perfect amount of coverage and whimsy for all day fun at the beach. Like the Bein Fait surf tee ($78) with UPF 50 coverage and a hidden pocket for loose bills. Or the long sleeve red and white stripped rash guard ($68), which offers a bit more structure than the tee but just as much beach style.
This activewear superstore caries more than yoga mats, sports bras, and expensive dry-fit apparel. It now carries swimwear. Suits are made with a UPF of 50+, breathable fabric, and a fit that “hugs you in all the right places.” Items range from $54-$58 for tops and $54 for bottoms; plus, their $108 Coastal Om Onsie in Secret Garden is sure to stand out among the rest. Snatch one up before the store move’s from their current spot on Colorado Blvd. in Old Town Pasadena.
For a cheaper but no less stylish option, try H&M on Colorado Blvd. For only $4.95 and up, you can grab bikini bottoms in leopard or floral print; for $12.95 and up you can grab colored or pattern bikini tops; and for only $29.95, a stunning, cutout one piece can be yours for the taking.
