BAD Sushi isn’t what it sounds like. It actually stands for Best and Delicious, which may explain why the Holly Street Old Town Pasadena location is the third to open. Not for sushi purists by any means, there are endless options to choose from.
Located on Holly Street across from the Tibet-Nepal House, BAD Sushi is slightly away from the main hustle and bustle on Colorado Boulevard. BAD Sushi has a small sushi bar, which makes sense given that people that like rolls also tend to prefer tables. But sharing a couple of the special rolls and creative appetizers that make up the bulk of the menu is probably best enjoyed in the social setting of a table.
BAD sushi has more than just special rolls with quirky and intriguing names like Love at First Bite Roll or Krispy Cream Roll, there are also tons of appetizers that are just as imaginative. And if you can’t decide, there are also lots of reasonably priced combination options so that you can get a little something of everything. Just as long as you are willing to skip authenticity in favor of creativity.
According to The Pasadena Star News, BAD is a spicy tuna lover’s dream, with the chopped fish making an appearance in numerous dishes, with or without tempura.
The best part about having such an extensive menu means that there is something for everyone, from the rice avoidant to the fish adverse. Many rolls are made without rice while there are also teriyaki and other options if you happen to be dining with a carnivorous type.
