Who ever thought technology would become something to accessorize? I’m sure to the truest techies this thought causes them to squirm. But to those of us who adore fashion? I say, “Wahoo!” Another item to shop for! And these pieces are everywhere. Adorable, fashionable, and affordable phone, tablet, and laptop cases are as ubiquitous as denim nowadays. Currently, I’m rocking a polka dot laptop sleeve from Kate Spade, which just puts me in a good mood when I’m writing. But so would these others…
Whether you like funky patterns, bold colors, a splash of pizzazz, or something more subtle, there is a tech case for you. One of my favorite places to shop for tech accessories is Kate Spade — they’re always classy, always sweet, and always affordable. (You can’t beat a piece of Kate Spade for only $40.) Current favorites include their Le Pavillion iPhone 5 Case–an adorable cream with gold polka dot pattern; their Cafe Scene Samsung S4 Case–a watercolor-like image of two fashionable gals gabbing over coffee; and (for $70) their iPhone 5 Solid Wristlet–a faux patent leather wristlet that holds not only your iPhone, but also has space for three credit cards and an interior slide pocket. Genius!
Plus, their iPad Folios (not too bad at $85) are perfectly lightweight yet sturdy and come in a variety of colors and patterns. My favorite? The Composition Notebook iPad Folio–a throw back to the composition books carried to class in the way-back-then years. Or the Dictionary iPad Folio, which–with its classic appearance of an old school dictionary–speaks to my writer’s soul. (Slightly higher at $125 but so worth it.)
A more unlikely place to find tech accessories is Vroman’s Bookstore. Recently perusing their accessory section, I discovered a variety of adorable phone cases–my favorite by far looks like an old library check-out card.
For the men, J.Crew has got you covered. Like the Leather iPhone 5/5S case in brown and black (only $38) or the Printed Rubber iPhone Case, made of sturdy rubber but with the appearance of wood grain. It’s hip. It’s affordable ($25!). And sturdy. Win-win-win. For an even more inexpensive option (we’re talking $5.95), try H&M’s iPhone 5/5S case in 100% silicone that resembles an actual keyboard.
Or for the carry-it-all-including-the-laptop guy, the Herschel Supply Co. backpack from Urban Outfitters is the perfect bag for you. Cut with a modern silhouette, this backpack fits a 15 inch laptop and then some. Its buckle strap flap, nylon interior, and cushioned back with mesh panels screams comfort, durability, and usability. Colors include black on black, brown on brown, and my favorite–grey with brown straps. The $89 price tag is worth it from all the use it’ll no doubt get.
