The rain won’t last long, but it’s here. So what better way to enjoy the precipitation than with fashion? Kick off those heels and throw on some chic sporty shoes; grab a bright umbrella to stroll beneath the clouds; wrap a cozy scarf around your neck while the wind kicks up. I for one love the rain. Love how it covers everything in a grey, mellow mood. And love how it allows for rainwear to emerge from my closet.
First on my rainy weekend list? Weather (and fashion) appropriate shoes. Like these adorable Nike ($75) and New Balance ($80) shoes made for J.Crew. Colorful, fun, and comfortable, these kicks can easily be paired with jeans–and still feel fashionable and spring-ready. Colors range from grey and apricot to sky blue and salmon. Or for the bold, try the neon citrus and navy–pow!
Next has to be Madewell’s rainy-day umbrella. I have yet to purchase a fun one–maybe it’s because I’m too frugal to drop money on something I rarely use; however, when I saw how colorful these umbrellas were (and inexpensive), I pounced. My favorite has white and navy stripes. But the others are just as adorable–camo, blackwatch plaid, and tropical coral, just to name a few. Definitely worth the $35 to make a statement in the rain, no?
And scarves. Nothing says cozy more than a soft, delicate scarf nuzzling your neck. I’m loving Kate Spade’s latest spring-colored scarves–the Giverny Floral Scarf looks like a watercolor masterpiece of pink, turquoise, and yellow flowers. Or for the more modern, the New York Map Scarf is a funky yet fashionable option. Stretched out in black, yellow, and white, this scarf details the entire city of Manhattan. Neither of these scarves are cheap ($128); but–the saturated colors and quirky details make it worth it. Plus, your neck will thank you.
So get your closet ready for the rain–and enjoy Pasadena at its coziest.
