Readers, I have found my new store — a darling boutique that exudes chicness, casualness, and style: Atelier Femme, located at 1033 E. Green St., just east of Lake Ave. This adorable shop opened almost one year ago, come March 1st. And the fact that I’ve just now discovered it is shocking. Because not only does it offer beautiful pieces at reasonable prices, but it’s also a unique and posh space that resembles Therapy or Elisa B, two boutiques located in Old Town Pasadena. (With much higher price tags, mind you.)
Walking in, I immediately loved the minimalistic yet vintage feel of Atelier Femme. Dark wood floors. Light grey walls. Sleek black framed mirrors leaned up against the walls. Reclaimed wooden tables displayed delicate jewelry and scarves, while clothing hung roomily on low racks. (There’s something about a store that displays its clothes in a breathable way, no?) Items had a causal feel to them — drapey cottons and jersey knits. Tees, tanks, sweaters. The kind of clothing you want to live in. Easy to throw on. Stylish no matter what time of day. My favorites included a faux leather collarless black jacket–$80; a slouchy grey and white stripped sweater–$58; magnifying glass necklaces; and the handmade cards displayed in a small trunk at the register. Brands ranged from the familiar (Joe’s Jeans and Baily 44) to their more “niche” designers (Strands of Harmony and Tag it Green). And even neater is their mission: “To provide the most beautiful clothing and accessories and the highest levels of customer service in a relaxing atelier environment.”
I must say, owner Sandy Potter got it right. Her vision of creating a creative space for women to shop, gather, and learn is spot on. Not only did I enjoy the retail, I also loved how a man playing jazz guitar was there to welcome us inside — a typical Saturday event here, I learned from one of the workers. Upcoming events include a make-up demo, wine, finger foods, and shopping on February 13th, otherwise known as “Galentine’s Day.” (RSVPing is required, though — so call 626.793.1200 by the 10th to reserve spots!)
Green Street just got a little cooler in mind, thanks to Atelier Femme. Come check this darling boutique out for fun, shopping, and a boost of creativity.
