There is no shortage of fun events in Pasadena. However, we think some are just too awesome to pass up. Following find four recommendations for great happenings you could attend in the upcoming weeks, plus a link to a few more!
“Twelve Angry Men” at the Pasadena Playhouse – Now
The story that was made famous in the 50’s in the film that starred Henry Fonda has been brought to life at the Pasadena Playhouse and will continue performing until December 1. Directed by Sheldon Epps, this version of the Reginald Rose tale is presented with a cast of six black and six white actors. They are inside a New York City Court’s deliberation room, tasked with deciding whether a young man accused of murder is guilty. As the deliberations continue, they are faced with their own biases, and, with this bi-racial cast, race tensions are underlined. “Twelve Angry Men” is interesting throughout its two-hour duration (there’s a 15 minute intermission). The director said he wants to “prompt serious dialogue onstage and off about the vitally important issue of race in America.” In fact the play does encourage discussion. Some of the language shocks, a thankful realization that we have indeed made progress since the 50’s. However, that there is a lot of road ahead of us is also evident. Its message is thought-provoking and the cast excellent. Check times and ticket prices at www.pasadenaplayhouse.org
