If you want to explore Pasadena’s cultural and art institutions on a shoestring your perfect opportunity comes this Friday, October 11, when at least 18 venues throughout the City will be open to the public, free of charge, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for ArtNight Pasadena.
All you have to do is drive, walk, or “metro” yourself to one of the locations. From then on you can just hop on the shuttles that will be transporting people between venues throughout the night. (If you are a commuter and have a Metro card, bring it along as you may get discounts or small gifts thanks to it!)
So, for example, you could arrive at 6 p.m. to the Pasadena Civic Plaza (300 E. Green St.) and enjoy MUSI/IQUE’s free concert, which will mix symphonic sounds with street grooves when the orchestra is joined by the key players of the daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra. Aside from music, there will be food and drink and when the concert is done you can hop on a shuttle and go to the next stop! (This concert will repeat at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.)
You could then make it just in time to one of the dance shows at the Lineage Performing Arts Center (89 S. Fair Oaks Avenue) which as part of its programming for the evening has Ecos de España (Echos from Spain) at 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
Or…you could go straight to the Norton Simon Museum (411 West Colorado Blvd.), which on this evening will extend free admission so that you can walk its halls filled with beautiful works of art, relax in its gorgeous patio, and perhaps enjoy some of the special programming that they are planning for the night.
Of course our favorites need not be your favorites. There are plenty of locations to choose from, including the Kidspace Children’s Museum, One Colorado, the Pasadena Library Central Branch, and much more. See the complete list at http://tinyurl.com/kplhltj
See you this Friday at ArtNight Pasadena! We can’t afford to miss it!
