Barnabas Clothing Co., located at Paseo Colorado, is the best news since sliced bread. Literally. Ten percent of anything you purchase goes to help treat terminally ill families in Kenya. Now, that’s shopping that feels good. For three years, Barnabas Clothing Co. has held a strong online presence — so strong, in fact, that they just recently opened their first storefront in Pasadena.
Interior: industrial chic. Clothing: casually comfortable. My thoughts: pure genius. The dark grey walls, concrete slab floors, low wooden tables set a hip atmosphere. Clothing is nicely and spaciously displayed, the way any boutique would layout their pieces. And honestly, this marketing style, along with soft fabrics and interesting clothing details, drew me in. It was the Barnabas mission–explained by a friendly staffer–that lead me to purchase something.
The store sells both men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. All priced well. All labeled with their 10% gives back mission. An adorable blue dress with orange dotted detailing was priced at $48.50. A super snuggly grey poncho with a hood was tagged at $48. And my favorite — a gorgeous black handbag with golden zipper details was only $65. My husband purchased a well made canvas men’s backpack for only $42. You can’t not love these prices. Especially since 10% of your purchase goes straight into the hands of needy people — an idea created by Barnabas’ founder and CEO, Alexander Aquino.
“I created Barnabas with the intent to make a difference in the lives of others, whether in Kenya, Africa or right here in my own backyard. Barnabas stands for solid choices that impact lives around them for good. Lives that are worth imitating,” says Aquino on their website.
From the friendly staff and the messaging on every Barnabas item (“A Life Worth Imitating” is printed on tee shirts and John 3:16 appears on the items’ inside labels) to their local and global mission of helping others, Barnabas Clothing Co. is definitely worth a visit. Or two. Or three…
