Even in daylight this very old building (built in the 1880s) looks suspicious. Imagine it then under the cover of night and complete with audio and lighting effects, low visibility, strobe and black lights, water, fog, and actors meaning to give you a fright for your money.
There are multiple legends and myths related to this old brick building (which in the 1890s was the 1st National Bank of Pasadena), and some swear that it is haunted for reals. (If you want to build your anticipation read about all about it on www.oldtownhaunt.com.)
Just know that descending into the basement of an edifice like this one, and walking its tight claustrophobic and dark passageways, is not for the light-hearted. Nor is it for kids younger than 12-years-old, so please don’t take them into the evening haunts. There are, however, two Kid’s Matinees (for children 7 to 12 years-old only) with less effects, no live actors, and fewer scares. These are scheduled on Oct. 26 and 27 from noon to 4 p.m.
For adults in search of horror, the Old Town Haunt starts slowly in October, the first two weeks held only on Saturday between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. But the haunts will multiply as the month moves along, culminating on a four-day scare fest during Halloween week.
Tickets range from $15 to $22 with a VIP option (to avoid waiting in line). Tickets can be purchased at http://oldtownhaunt.ticketleap.com/hauntnights2013/
The Old Town Haunt is hailed as one of Southern California’s best Halloween activities, and it happens to be right on our backyard. So see you there!
