If you haven’t been to the Pasadena Farmer’s Market, what are you waiting for? The Market is better than ever, with a new location in the Pasadena Playhouse District. We announced the opening of the Old Pasadena Farmer’s Market last week, too.
The Pasadena Farmer’s Market is Certified, which means it is approved by the county commissioner to offer for sale ONLY those agricultural products they grow themselves. This benefits small farmers, consumers and the community.
These fresh fruits are in season right now:
• Persian Melons
• Oranges (Valencia)
*The olallieberry is a cross between the loganberry and the youngberry, each of which is itself a cross between blackberry and another berry. *Persian melons are fairly large and firm with a small amount of softness at the stem end. The coloring will be dark green and turn lighter green as the melon ripens. The netting is finely-textured and will be slightly brown when ripe.
August vegetables include:
• Snap beans
• Brussels sprouts
• Green peppers
• Sweet potatoes
Part of the joy of shopping at a farmers market is being able to meet and talk to the people that grow your food! So come prepared with any questions, try some samples, and in doing so help create the community we are so proud of here in Pasadena.
We recommend your bring your own reusable bags. Don’t forget to leave room in them for fresh baked goods, honey, and artisan chocolate! Come to the Farmers Market at any of these times and locations:
