This stunning boutique came to Old Town Pasadena in 2008 — any guesses? It’s passionate about color. It’s ga-ga for stylish yet sensible handbags. It’s devoted to all things elegance. You guessed it–the fiercely fun and fashionable, Kate Spade.
It was in 1993 when designer Kate Spade launched her conservative line of handbags after seeing a dearth of stylish yet sensible ones in the market. Slowly, her line grew. And soon, Spade’s collection included shoes, perfume, clothing, even home decor, ultimately culminating in the opening of her first store: SoHo, 1996.
To say I adore Kate Spade is an understatement. I adore it. Vibrant colors, quirky accessories, and modern elegance fill this boutique, which resembles a sophisticated clothing Crayola box. We’re talking zinnia pink, sea glass, clotted cream, maraschino. (No joke. All colors describe dresses found in her collection.) Which tells me–this designer pushes the colored envelope. And has fun doing it.
The fun doesn’t end with color, though. late Spade covers its shelves with modern yet spunky accessories, purses, shoes, and jewelry every trend seeking woman craves. For instance, the “tee flat,”, a bold green flat, comes adorned with a giant white golf ball on top. The “cinema city clapper pendant,” an elegant necklace, features a director’s marker for a pendant. And the “emma book clutch” is a sleek clutch in the exact shape of Emma, the book. But don’t let the whimsy of Kate Spade lead you to believe it lacks sophistication. The boutique features elegant handbags, silk dresses, jacquard and tweed skirts, even wedding attire. And prices show its quality–$400 purses, $350 skirts, $250 shoes.
What sets this Old Pasadena store apart–in my mind–from numerous other boutiques, is its service. Walk into Kate Spade and you’ll be treated like a princess. Frequent its boutique and you’ll be entered into a sales associate’s client book. The ultimate dream. Trust me; it’s to-die-for. Special attention. Insider sales. Friends and family discounts. But shh… you didn’t hear it from me.
Let your sartorial soul play dress up in this spunky yet elegant boutique. Guaranteed to brighten not only your wardrobe but your day as well.
