The 10th Annual Free Jazz Summer Concert Series will start at 5 p.m. this Sunday, July 7, at Vroman’s courtyard with music by Michael Haggins. A son of Pasadena, Haggins is a successful bass player who will delight those in attendance with his original music until 7 p.m. This event is free and open to all ages. Chairs are set up in the courtyard and available on a first-come first-served basis.
Every Sunday thereafter, until August 25, you can plan to enjoy Latin Jazz, Smooth Jazz, and other summer musical treats from the following artists:
July 14 – Afrotango Ensemble (Latin Jazz plus Tango)
July 21 – Tony Inzalaco (Straight-ahead hard-swinging jazz)
July 28 – Grey Beret (Smooth jazz)
August 4 – DMQ (Straight-ahead hard-swinging jazz)
August 11 – Jamila Ford (Jazz/Soul)
August 18 – Joe LoPiccolo (Guitarist)
August 25 – Elliott Caine (Jazz/Blues)
You can, of course, extend your Sunday fun by going to the movies, getting a bite to eat, or checking out the latest books before and after the show at the surrounding venues. This event is presented by the Pasadena Playhouse District Association. Vroman’s courtyard is located at 695 E. Colorado Blvd. For more information contact (626) 744-0340.
